TerraTop Terrazzo Overlayment system
1. Concrete Sub-base: Terratop is installed on a concrete sub-base. In interior applications the slab thickness is between 7 – 10 cms. The concrete mix design should take into consideration the loading required as well as the condition of the existing sub-floor. In general the mix should contain at least 300 KG of cement per cubic meter. Location of control joints in the slab must follow ACI recommendations. Concrete should be cured for a period of seven days at least prior to application of the TerraTop Terrazzo Topping.
2. Divider Strips: Decorative divider strips are installed as per design requirement. Grinders are used to groove the slab in places where the decorative strips will be inserted. Copper, aluminum, stainless steel and brass dividing strips are usual separators. The strips are inserted in the concrete groove and held in place by epoxy bonding material.
3. Bonding Coat: After thoroughly pressure cleaning the concrete surface, a coat of BondCrete bonding agent is applied 24 hours prior to TerraTop installation. This will seal the concrete surface as well as provide a base coat for the TerraTop. Another coat is applied immediately prior to pouring the topping.
4. TerraTop Installation: The Terratop powder is mixed and applied as per material instruction manual.
5. Grinding: After at least 8 days curing and drying time the TerraTop surface is smoothed by using a traditional marble grinding and polishing machine.
6. Waxing: for extra polishing shine a coat of wax is recommended.
7. Maintenance: A periodical wax coat is the best way to preserve and protect the TerraTop Overlayment Flooring. Cleaning with a mild soap is adequate for a long lasting trouble free floor.
