TEXCRETE DECORATIVE STENCIL PATTERN CONCRETE SYSTEM

PART I - GENERAL

TexCrete Decorative Stencil Pattern Concrete system is made up of three components:
• The paper or plastic stencil which provides the pattern effect.
• The ArtGrout 705 which is made of Styrene Acrylate Copolymer that features outstanding performance, non-skid texture, hiding power, elasticity, water resistance, and color retention all in one economical product..
• The TopSeal Acrylic Sealer, which is applied to the finished job to protect the surface from stains and also to enhance the color.

PART II – PRODUCT USES

The TexCrete System Designed to be a highly durable, flexible coating system with outstanding resistance to weathering, ultra-violet radiation and water. It is suitable for application over sprayed urethane foam insulation roofs, concrete, wood and asphalt roofs. TexCrete can be used in situations where a skidproof, wear resistance surface is required. It may be used on new decks as well as old concrete decks which are damaged or cracked. TexCrete is used on basements, patios, porches, balconies, roofs, and swimming pool decks.

PART III – ADVANTAGES

  • Durable, resists variable weather conditions.
  • Textured surface to the degree required.
  • Available in any color.
  • Slip-resistance safety finish.
  • Has high elasticity and will bridge any cracks that may develop in the structure movement.
  • Is water resistant .
  • Wear and impact resistant.

PART IV – MATERIAL

Concrete Mix Design: A minimum of 6 sacks of cement (300 Kgs.) shall be used per cubic meter of concrete. All aggregate shall be free of deleterious material. The concrete slump shall not be greater than 10 cms. A normal-set or retard-set water-reducing admixture may be used and in areas subjected to freeze an air-entraining admixture shall be used at 3 to 5 percent. Concrete shall attain a minimum compressive strength of 3,000 psi in 28 days.

Dry Shake Coloring Agent: ArtGrout 705 Color Hardener, as manufactured exclusively for Interactive Developers SARL.

Clear Protective Coating: Acrylic Clear Sealer with UV inhibitors as manufactured for Interactive Developers SARL.

Colors: The color of the ArtGrout 705 color hardener shall be selected by architect. It is recommended that samples be provided to ensure final selection. Color is affected by humidity, water content, trowelling techniques and final coating.

PART V - INSTALLATION

Surface Preparation: Ensure floors are structurally sound and fully cured a minimum 28 days. Properly repair concrete and install joint sealants and fillers as necessary. Mechanically profile the floor to medium grit sandpaper texture to remove curing and parting compounds and other surface hardeners and floor coatings. Clean floors of fat, grease and oil. Surfaces must be absolutely dry, if not, ventilate area until all traces of moisture disappear. The adhesion of ArtGrout 705 to previously painted surfaces will only be as good as the adhesion of the previous coating. Sand or scrap off all peeling and loose paint. Gloss finishes must be sanded and tested before receiving ArtGrout 705.

Application: The TexCrete Stencil Pattern Concrete process is very simple. First the paper or plastic stencil is laid over the existing concrete slab. ArtGrout 705 is mixed with water and sparayed using a texture gun. Different consistencies and air pressure will result in different textures. If a different color grout line is desired, apply a first coat by brushing or spreading with an applicator pad or medium nap roller cover prior to installing the stencil.

When the surface is dry, the stencil is removed to reveal the chosen pattern. Residual color chips are removed with a mechanical blower. Experienced concrete contractors learn the stencil process very easily and can lay large areas in half the time it takes to lay pavers

Joints: Control joints shall be cut at pre-determined areas no later that 12 hours after the concrete has been placed or as appropriate for the weather conditions.

TexCrete surface shall then be sealed with a minimum of 1 coat of Acrylic Clear Seal. Other coatings depending on final use my be applied. Coatings shall be applied in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, specifications & recommendations.

PART VI - MAINTENANCE

TexCrete surfaces are protected by the final coating applied. To minimize wear of the final surface, a periodic re-application of a waxing agent or sealer is recommended. Washing with regular soap and water is sufficient in most applications. Commercial applications should consider an appropriate coating and maintenance system.
